The Rear Guard Ballistic Shield Backpack Insert provides discreet, lightweight ballistic protection that transforms an ordinary backpack, laptop bag, or handbag into a portable ballistic shield. Proudly made in the USA, these upgraded inserts are thinner, lighter, and more comfortable to carry than many imported alternatives while providing independently tested NIJ Level IIIA ballistic protection.
Designed for students, professionals, travelers, and anyone seeking an added layer of preparedness, Rear Guard inserts help provide protection while evacuating during an emergency. If retreat is necessary, the insert remains in your backpack to help protect vital areas. If sheltering becomes necessary, the backpack can be positioned between you and a potential threat.
Constructed from advanced Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), Rear Guard inserts are lightweight, flexible, and comfortable for everyday carry. Unlike heavy steel plates, UHMWPE provides excellent ballistic performance without adding excessive weight. The flexible design conforms naturally to backpacks and bags, making daily use practical and unobtrusive.
Rear Guard inserts have been independently tested to NIJ Level IIIA standards, providing protection against most common handgun threats, including 9mm and .44 Magnum rounds. They also help resist slashing and puncture threats from sharp or pointed objects.
