Indoor Radar Security Alarm with 9 Sound Options, Adjustable Detection & 120 dB Alarm

Give your home, office, store or business an audible security presence without the care and responsibility of owning a guard dog. The updated Safety Technology Barking Dog Alarm uses radar technology to detect approaching movement and automatically activate your selected barking dog sound, chime or alarm.

Unlike ordinary motion detectors that require a direct line of sight, the Barking Dog Alarm can detect movement through many common building materials. This allows the unit to remain safely indoors while monitoring an appropriate area outside a home or building.

The updated model provides nine sound options, including multiple barking dog sounds, a chime and an alarm. Eight adjustable volume levels provide flexibility for different environments, with a maximum output of approximately 120 dB.

Adjustable Low, Mid and High radar settings allow the detection area to be tailored to the location. The radar detection pattern is stronger from the back of this model than from the front, making proper positioning especially important.

For monitoring an outside approach, place the Barking Dog Alarm indoors with the back/battery-compartment side facing the exterior wall and the front/speaker side facing into the room. Starting on LOW sensitivity can help provide outside detection while reducing unwanted activation from normal movement farther inside the room. Actual performance varies depending on placement, wall construction and surrounding materials.

The radar signal can detect through many common materials including wood, cement, brick, stucco and ordinary glass. Metal walls, walls containing metal studs, tinted or metalized glass and extremely thick walls can interfere with or prevent radar detection. If detection is inconsistent, repositioning the alarm and testing another sensitivity setting may improve performance.

The included wireless remote lets you arm or disarm the system, change sound modes and activate the panic alarm without having to access the alarm itself. The remote has a range of more than 50 feet under suitable conditions and can operate through many walls.

For everyday operation, the Barking Dog Alarm is powered by the included AC adapter. Eight AA batteries can be installed as backup power for temporary operation during a power outage.

The Barking Dog Alarm is intended for indoor use only. Because every building has different wall materials, layouts and surrounding conditions, some experimentation with placement and sensitivity is normal when initially setting up the radar detection area.

Does the Barking Dog Alarm need to be installed outside?
No. The Barking Dog Alarm is designed for indoor use. Its radar technology allows it to detect movement through many common exterior walls, doors and glass while the alarm remains safely indoors.

Which side should face the area outside that I want to monitor?
For this updated model, the back/battery-compartment side has the greater radar detection range. When monitoring an outside approach, place the alarm indoors with the back of the unit facing the exterior wall and monitored outside area.

Can I walk around inside my home without activating the alarm?
Proper positioning and the LOW detection setting may help reduce unwanted activation from movement inside the home because the front detection range is shorter than the back. However, radar is not an exact directional beam, so indoor movement cannot be guaranteed to never activate the unit.

Which sensitivity setting should I use?
Start with LOW and test the monitored outside area. If additional detection range is needed, try MID and then HIGH. Using the lowest setting that reliably covers the desired area may help reduce unwanted activations.

How far can the alarm detect movement?
Detection varies by direction and sensitivity setting. The supplied detection diagram indicates up to approximately 3–6 meters from the back on LOW, 6–9 meters on MID and 9–16 meters on HIGH. Actual range depends on wall construction, placement and surrounding conditions.

Will the radar work through walls?
It can detect through many common materials including wood, cement, brick, stucco and ordinary glass. Actual detection distance depends on the material and thickness of the barrier.

Will it work through metal?
Metal can block or interfere with the radar signal. Metal walls, walls containing metal studs, some tinted or metalized glass and extremely thick walls may prevent or substantially reduce detection.

What should I do if the alarm detects people moving inside my house?
Begin with LOW sensitivity and make sure the back of the alarm faces the exterior wall being monitored. Try repositioning the alarm if necessary. The shorter front detection range may help reduce unwanted indoor activation, but results depend on the room and surrounding materials.

What should I do if it does not detect someone outside?
Confirm that the back of the alarm faces the exterior wall, test the unit on LOW and then increase to MID if additional range is needed. Moving the unit to another position along the wall may also improve detection. Check for metal or other materials that could interfere with the radar signal.

How many sounds does the updated model have?
The updated model provides nine selectable sound options, including multiple barking dog sounds, a chime and an alarm.

How loud is the alarm?
The unit provides eight volume levels with a maximum output of approximately 120 dB.

Can I control it remotely?
Yes. The included wireless remote can arm and disarm the system, change the sound mode and activate the panic alarm.

What happens during a power outage?
The alarm normally operates from the included AC adapter. Eight AA batteries can provide temporary backup power during a power outage. AA batteries are not included.

Does the Barking Dog Alarm require a subscription?
No. There are no monthly monitoring or subscription fees required to operate the alarm.

• FOR INDOOR USE ONLY
• For outside approach detection, keep the alarm indoors and position the back/battery-compartment side toward the exterior wall being monitored
• Start with LOW detection and increase to MID or HIGH only when additional range is needed
• Actual radar detection distance varies with placement, wall construction and surrounding conditions
• Metal can block or interfere with radar detection
• Metal walls, walls containing metal studs, tinted or metalized glass and extremely thick walls may reduce or prevent detection
• Radar may also detect movement inside the home depending on placement and sensitivity
• Some experimentation with placement and sensitivity is normal during initial setup
• Keep the unit away from rain, moisture and outdoor exposure
• Do not place the speaker close to your ears when testing the alarm
• 8 AA batteries are required for battery-backup operation and are not included
